Web Search
Let your AI search the internet for current information.
Web Search
The Web Search ability lets your AI search the internet for up-to-date information during conversations. When enabled, the agent can look up current facts, check websites, and bring real-time data into the conversation.
Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| (none) | Just enable it — no configuration needed |
Web Search requires no configuration. Once added, the AI will automatically decide when to search the internet based on the conversation context.
How It Works
When a user asks a question the AI can't confidently answer from its training data or your workspace knowledge, it will perform a web search. Results are summarized and incorporated into the response.
Common use cases:
- Looking up current business hours or contact details
- Checking recent news or events
- Verifying facts that may have changed since the AI's training
- Researching topics not covered by your workspace knowledge base
Adding Web Search
Web Search can be added at either the workflow or task level:
- Open your workflow or task
- Go to the Abilities tab
- Click Add Ability and select Web Search
- Save
Task-level abilities override workflow-level abilities of the same type.
Conditional Activation
You can restrict when Web Search is available using CEL expressions in the ability's Conditions field. For example, you might only enable it during business hours or for certain member labels. See Abilities for more on conditional abilities.
